ABOUT US

“For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth.”

— Zechariah 4:10

CHURCH– FOUNDING

On March 4th 1945 founding members met to organize a Missionary Baptist Church near the Cox Cemetery about a quarter mile further down the road of our present location.  The name Riverview was chosen because of the view of Bull Run Creek the “river” from Cox Cemetery.  Members present included Everitt Watson, Marie Watson, Melvin Watson, Edgar L. (Buck) Moneymaker, Lucy Moneymaker, Dorothy Moneymaker, Harrison Jones, George Jenkins and Joe Wright. Rev D.P. Aultum was unanimously elected the first pastor.

Riverview has been blessed with strong preachers who labored tirelessly. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. How Beautiful are the feet of them that preach the Gospel.
